Kal Mueller is a learning disability self-advocate. As a young child, Kal struggled with ADHD, anxiety, short term memory loss, and dyslexia. With the help of the Fast Forward Scientific Learning Program, an evidence-based reading and language intervention, Kal was able to increase her reading and writing abilities. As an adult, Kal uses her difference to endorse the Illinois Professional Development System: Gateways to Opportunities, the Michigan Department of Education Great Start program, and the Macomb Intermediate School District in Michigan. In the interview with our Different & Able President and Founder, Alexandra Nicklas, Kal shares stories about her challenges with learning, her health and wellness, her family support system, and the tribulations she faced with teachers and her siblings.
